OEM Custom Brick Manufacturer: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Order

Use this in an RFP or a first call. If a supplier cannot answer in writing, you do not have a production partner. Short answers below; process and numbers are linked, not restated.

  1. Do you sample before mass production? Physical sample after structure approval. Production does not start from a PDF. See how to order.
  2. What is the real MOQ? 10 kits for builds; 50 units for minifigure-only; prototype from 1. MOQ and pricing.
  3. Are the parts LEGO-branded? No. Compatible ABS for production orders. Not affiliated with the LEGO Group.
  4. How are brand colors matched? Pantone or brand guidelines; custom ABS mix is in scope. Tiles, pads, and box graphics share one approval loop.
  5. Who owns the artwork? NDA on request. Original designs. Confirm CAD ownership and that your livery is not reused for another client.
  6. What are the milestone dates? Draft, sample, bulk, QC photos — not a single “3–5 weeks.” Dates sit on the process page.
  7. What does QC include? In-line checks and a photo set before shipment. Premium programs can include a QC report. Agree AQL before goods leave the factory.
  8. How is packaging specified? Rigid gift box, numbered bags, manuals, certificates are line items. A booth kit and a VIP mailer do not share a default carton. Check cases for the format you need.
  9. Can you split shipments? Labeled cartons and packing lists by office. Put destinations in the first quantity line.
  10. What files do you need to quote? Logo, quantity, deadline, use case, and reference photos — not “just a logo.” Inquiry form.
  11. What are payment terms? Full payment before production; over $3,000 can run 50% / 50%. Details on the pricing guide.
  12. Who is the PM after the PO? Named PM, one thread for artwork and dates, reply within one business day.
